A new piece of public art has been revealed at the beautifully restored Globe Theatre in Stockton.

Andrew McKeown’s Heritage Mosaic takes inspiration from the original metal grilles that decorated the Globe’s front elevation.

The mosaic uses salvaged terrazzo material from The Globe’s original foyer, which has been finely crushed and sieved and bound in resin. This was then combined with glass mosaic and inlaid brass to produce the finished piece.

The mosaic has been positioned in the entrance foyer. It is intended as a possible starting point for the Stockton Council Heritage Trail.
