Meander – Tees Sculpture Trail #5 (Middleton One Row, Pat Walls, 2021)

Another part of the Tees Sculpture Trail which stretches from west to east, Meander is the work of Pat Walls, who also created Crossing and other pieces that we’ll cover soon. The sculpture is made from Ancaster Weatherbed limestone on a sandstone plinth

The name ‘Meander’ reflects the movement of the water of the river, with the rough and smooth qualities of the Ancaster limestone reflecting the varied flow of the Tees. A salmon is carved in relief on the plinth refers to the history of fishing in the area.\
